“Excursion to Otaru of Meiji, Taisho and Showa period”

【This is a brand-new course of Otaru to know about Otaru. In the pursuit of fun, a local guide wearing old-fashioned clothes will help you discover the history of Otaru with unique stories.】

After you proceed boarding you will a sweet “Hanazono Dango” at Niikura-ya. You will first go visit Nishin Goten Otaru Kihin Kan (former Aoyama’s Residence). It is one of the most unique houses, which is designated as the 3rd historic building of Otaru.
You will proceed to ‘Former Otaru Branch of the Nihon Yusen Company’ which is the two-story stone architecture made in a style that revives modern Europeanism. This is also the site where the Karafuto border demarcation conference was held, which is on the basis of the Treaty of Portsmouth. Also, the location is perfect to take a photo of the bonnet bus and the building in a snowy backdrop.On a way to former Temiya line, you can eat an original candy of Ameya Rokubei which is one of the traditional sweet shops. There is a railroad left along Temiya line and recreated Ironai Station, which was once used as the first passenger rail in Otaru.
You will move on to Winery Otaru Bine whose building was once used as Central Branch of the Hokkaido Bank where you can enjoy pleasant wine tasting. An exquisite guide will entertain visitors with interesting stories about its history.
You will make the last visit to Otaru Canal Terminal used once as Former Mitsubishi Bank Otaru Brunch and eat a sweet “Panjyu” at Kuwata-ya. You will feel like going through a time slip to the Meiji, Taisho, Showa period of Otaru traveling by the bonnet bus.

• ※Maximum number of passengers is 23 due to the capacity of a bonnet bus.
• ※Noted that bonnet bus may be replaced by regular sightseeing bus in case of breakdown or maintenance.
• ※Duration of sightseeing may be changed due to the traffic and the number of passengers
• ※Arrival time will be earlier than scheduled time due to the holiday break or the restriction condition of the facility.
• ※Please allow enough time for transfer to the other modes of transport, because buses may be delayed due to the traffic jams or adverse weather conditions.。
